The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) just announced their Quarterly Salon/Spa Performance Index (SSPI) for the fourth quarter of 2009. The index rose for the third consecutive quarter to 102.6 up from 101.9 in the third quarter. The increase was driven by improvement in service sales and customer visits. Retail sales are still lagging from the prior year. Salon and spa owners are optimistic about 2010 with 72% expecting higher sales.
